3rd Annual Purity Spring Resort Sled Dog Race Classic
UPDATE: Tuesday, March 2, 2010
We regret to announce we have decided to cancel the Purity Spring sled dog race scheduled for this weekend.
90% of our trail system is in good shape but with warm temps forecasted for the rest of the week PLUS the combination of soft and thin snow, we do not feel that we can provide safe trail conditions for teams this weekend.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause but we wish any teams heading up to the Northesat Championships in Jackman, Maine the best of luck and a safe weekend of racing.
Hope to see you all next season!
Updates continued from home page: Saturday, Feb 27, 2010
Purity Spring has received 10" of new snow in the last week with the chance of more in the forecast. We also had some rain on Thursday night creating some wet areas along certain sections of the trail network.
In order to preserve the trails, all grooming has ceased until colder temps return and to allow wet sections to drain. We have also lowered the level of Purity Lake by 6-9" to give saturated areas a place to drain into. This will not have any effect on the current 40 yard snowbridge built to connect the main trails.
As of this posting, forecasts for this area call for scattered snow for the next few days and also the potential of mix or light rain on Monday. We'll see colder temps return midweek allowing grooming to resume. We expect to groom each day thereafter up until late Friday AM.
At this stage we fully intend to hold this race, and expect conditions to be the best possible.
For those who have expereinced the Purity Spring trail network and grooming capabilities before, you already know that our crew will bring the very best conditions possible.
Stay tuned to this page for numerous updates up until race day.
